Alicia is a Nashville-based Wood Artist whose Work Reflects the Beauty of the Natural World

The Heart Behind the Art

Pursuing art has been a dream come true. I’ve always had an untapped interest in art, but only recently did I give myself permission to pursue it seriously. The pull became so strong that I could no longer resist it.

I first became interested in working with wood after taking a high school shop class. I’ve always been drawn to its groundedness and authenticity. More recently, I began combining wood with paint and stains to create pictorial art. Blending natural wood grain with vibrant colors has been incredibly gratifying. Trees have so much to give, and I consider it an honor to extend their reach into something of lasting beauty.

As a nature lover, I chose to focus my art on the great outdoors. I initially envisioned creating only landscapes, but over time, botanicals appeared—and then the birds. As both an artist and a Christian, I can’t help but see the connection between the natural world and the Creator. There is abundant theology in nature, beauty, and the act of creating itself.

Looking ahead, I hope to explore the overlap between art life, aesthetics, faith, and nature—whether through writing, speaking, or simply through the artwork I create.
